Ocean Shores dead body identified

June 17, 2013

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department is investigating the body of a man who washed ashore in Ocean Shores on Sunday.

A beachcomber called 911 to report finding the body on Sunday afternoon. The 65 year old Federal Way man has been identified as Antonio Inocencio. After contacting family, it was found that he was believed to be with a 58 year old man, also from Federal Way, in the area for surf fishing. Deputies recovered Inocencio’s vehicle with fish inside, but no sign of the other man.

Undersheriff Dave Pimentel told KXRO that the United States Coast Guard conducted searches of the water with a helicopter, and deputies searched the beaches, but the man was located Monday at his home in Federal Way, alive and well.

It is believed that Inocencio died due to accidental drowning, but the cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department reminds those on the beach to use caution when in the waters. Waves can arrive unexpectedly, and rip tides are common. Waves can be large enough to move vehicles and knock down those along the surf line and carry a person out to sea.
