Grays Harbor DUI emphasis results released

September 6, 2013

The results of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over emphasis in Grays Harbor County have been announced, and they topped last year’s numbers.

The recent campaign was conducted from August 16 through September 2.

In Grays Harbor, 27 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Statewide 1,420 drivers were arrested. Last year in Grays Harbor during the same time period, officers arrested 16 people for DUI.

Multiple local police departments, the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Patrol participated in the extra patrols. The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

These and all extra patrols are part of Target Zero—striving to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030.
