HarborCrest renamed after Director

October 2, 2013

The Grays Harbor Community Hospital has renamed the HarborCrest Behavorial Health Unit after its longtime director.

The Hospital renamed the East Campus facility as the R. Bruce Worth, M.D. Chemical Dependency Treatment Center at Harborcrest.

The behavioral health program was dedicated to R. Bruce Worth, M.D. after 30 years as Medical Director of the facility.

Originally opened in February of 1983 as the CareUnit at St. Joseph Hospital, the Chemical Dependency program currently offers group therapy, one-on-one sessions, psychologists, and nursing staff as well as support programs for families and others affected by alcoholism.

Born in 1949, Worth moved to Grays Harbor in 1980 and has overseen this unit as the Medical Director since its opening in 1983. His interest in assisting those struggling with addiction grew when he learned of his own sister’s announcement to their family that she was an alcoholic. What he once considered a temporary assignment turned into something more. He has remained Medical Director at HarborCrest since.
