Armed robbery forces lockdown of YMCA

November 7, 2013

A strong arm robbery down the street from the YMCA of Grays Harbor forced the facility into a brief lockdown today.

Police officials tell KXRO that a woman was robbed of her purse in the 2700 block of Aberdeen Avenue by a man wielding a knife. Kurtis Dawson with the YMCA said that the robbery was not on the facility’s property, but protocol forced the lockdown. They have since completely re-opened.

The Aberdeen Police K9 unit was called in to assist Hoquiam Police with the investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9” with a stocky build and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Hoquiam Police at 360-532-0892 x102
