Habitat for Humanity builds 800,000th house nationwide
This month, Habitat for Humanity celebrated their 800,000th house built, rehabilitated and repaired. For the first time in the organization’s history, more than 100,000 families had been served in a single year.
Locally, Habitat for Humanity of Grays Harbor Executive Director Larry Burgher said that their goal is to build or rehab 3 homes in 2014. Currently, they are finishing up a home in South Aberdeen.
Habitat for Humanity says that they are on track to reach 1 million families served through new home construction, home renovation or critical home repair by the end of 2015, and to put millions more families on the path to improved shelter.
The nonprofit has helped an estimated 4 million people around the world since 1976.
