Fire in downtown Montesano

November 19, 2013

The Montesano Fire Department was called to a fire at 217 West Pioneer Avenue last night at around 9. Crews from the Aberdeen Fire Department and Grays Harbor Fire District #2 were called to help put out what Montesano Fire Chief Corey Rux called a “very difficult, stubborn fire.”

By 1 a.m. the roof of the building had caved in, but the firefighters had the fire confined to the building it started in and were putting out hot-spots in the building.

Chief Rux commended the firefighters for their hard work and said they were doing a great job throughout the long fight with the blaze.

Chief Rux also reported that there were no injuries at that time and that they had not yet been able to begin the investigation into the cause of the fire.
