Couple arrested after attempted robbery in Hoquiam

November 20, 2013

Tuesday night, just before 6 pm, Hoquiam Police were called to the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue after a report came in about a man with a gun.

Sergeant Mitchell was first on scene and saw a Volkswagen Jetta stopped in the middle of the road in the 500 Block of 24th Street. When he talked to the victims he learned the Volkswagen was involved, but had since left the location. Sergeant Mitchell was familiar with the Jetta and sent officers to an apartment in the 500 Block of Emerson Avenue where the Volkswagen has been seen on numerous occasions.

The victims reported a man had shown up at their home and claiming that he was owed money. Police found that someone had paid the victims a debt that he owed, and the man demanded the money be returned to him.

An argument and struggle followed before the man pointed a gun while a woman, with the suspect, used pepper spray on the residents.

The residents called 911 and the suspects fled the area in the Jetta.

The car was found at the apartment, impounded, and processed at HPD.

A 55 year old man from Hoquiam and a 38 year old woman from Aberdeen were also at the apartment, where they were arrested and booked into Grays Harbor County Jail on pending charges for Attempted Robbery in the 1st Degree.

This case remains under active investigation and there may be additional suspects charged.
