Garbage not shutting down for Thanksgiving

November 27, 2013

Hometown Sanitation announced to KXRO that they will be picking up residential garbage and recycling on schedule this Thursday for Thanksgiving.

LeMay tells KXRO that the transfer station and office will be closed on Thanksgiving, but crews will be out on the roads and garbage and recycling will still occur as scheduled.

Both Hometown Sanitation and LeMay confirmed that working Thanksgiving was a choice made by the employees, and holiday pay is involved. Brian Smith with Hometown said that the employees asked to work the day instead of doing a double shift today.
