Ho Ho Hoquiam this weekend
Hoquiam businesses will be gearing up for the Holiday season at Ho Ho Hoquiam on Saturday, December 7th. The Hoquiam Business Association says that the family-friendly event is “designed to bring business and fun activities to the heart of Hoquiam.”
The day will kick off with the Penguin Classic Fun Run. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. and the race starts at 10:00 a.m. both in front of the 7th Street Theatre. There will be a 2 mile walk/run, 5k run and a 10k run for all ages and experience levels.
Santa will be coming to Hoquiam at 11 a.m. at Central Elementary. There will be Bike and Gift raffles and every child will receive a goodie bag. There will be a photographer available but parents are welcome and encouraged to bring their own cameras.
The Cocoa Stroll and Festival of Trees will take place that afternoon. Anyone interested in participating will begin at the 7th Street Theatre to pick up a ballot and a complimentary cup of Cocoa furnished by Hoquiam 7-11. Participating businesses will be open from 4 – 7 p.m. and will have their decorated Christmas trees on display. Participants will vote for their favorite tree in several different categories. The first 100 participants who return a completed ballot will receive a free Ho Ho Hoquiam Commemorative Ornament.
Following the Cocoa Stroll and Festival of Trees the Hoquiam High School Band and Choir will help with Christmas carols and tunes prior to the ceremonial “Lighting of the Wreath” on the front of the 7th Street Theatre at 7:00 p.m. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” will be showing at the Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening immediately following the wreath lighting. A set of authentic “Moose Mugs” will be raffled off prior to the film as well as many other prizes.
