“First Friday” is this Friday in Aberdeen

December 3, 2013

On Friday, 21 Aberdeen businesses will join together in staying open later and bringing art and music to the downtown in an effort to assist local residents in holiday shopping.

The first Friday of the month is the start of a new event series in Aberdeen, and First Friday hopes to showcase the businesses to those who are unable to shop during the week. Participating businesses will be extending their hours to 8pm each first Friday of the month and many will host a local artist inside their store.

Not only will the businesses stay open later, but this event will mark the official start of the holiday shopping season in Aberdeen with the lighting of the Christmas tree in Zelasko Park at 5:30 pm. Santa, live music, and hot cocoa will all be at the park.

First Friday will be held on Friday, December 6th from 5 pm to 8 pm. If the event goes well, the plan is to continue the events year round every first Friday of each month.

For a list of participating businesses, visit the First Friday Facebook page.
