Washington State Patrol investigate Olympic Peninsula crash involving trooper

December 6, 2013

The Washington State Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating a collision that occurred on November 29 on the Olympic Peninsula. The collision involved three vehicles and happened on State Route 101 east of Port Angeles. One of the vehicles involved was driven by an on-duty Washington State Trooper.

The Washington State Patrol says the initial investigation shows that the trooper was responsible for a crash.

Sgt. Jason Hicks told the Peninsula Daily News Trooper Travis Beebe lost control while trying to overtake a speeder. When he made a U-turn, he struck two vehicles. One driver was treated at the scene by medics. Beebe was treated at a hospital for back and neck pain. The patrol car was destroyed.

The Peninsula Daily News reports Beebe was also involved in a May 2012 chase east of Port Angeles that ended in the death of a motorcycle rider and the destruction of his patrol

Detectives are seeking witnesses that may have seen any events leading to or the actual crash.

If you have any information or know someone who does, please contact Detective Sergeant Jerry Cooper at (360) 805-1192.
