Coast Guard respond to fire in Westport

The Coast Guard began to salvage a fish processor that caught fire at its pier in Westport early Saturday morning.

Crew members were on the fish processor when it caught fire, but no injuries were reported.

The 131-foot fishing processor Juno caught fire at approximately 1:30 am on Saturday.
Westport Fire Department personnel contacted the Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor in Westport for assistance fighting the fire.

Two Coast Guard crews responded.

The fire was out by 4:05 am.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton, Ore., were dispatched to the scene to monitor the removal of the firefighting water and handle any potential environmental hazards caused by the vessel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
