Montesano marijuana retailer not yet reported by State

December 30, 2013

More marijuana businesses could be added to Grays Harbor, not yet reported by the Washington State Liquor Control Board.

According to Joshua Miller of Montesano, he filed a permit to start his business, the 3-M’s Of Grays Harbor LLC, inside the Monte Square on December 17th.

Miller told KXRO, “We have searched High and Low in east grays harbor for a location for this business, preferably with a pre-existing structure, The City of Elma has a moratorium on these types of businesses according to mayor Dave Osgood who I contacted on the subject, so we reviewed the possible Montesano Locations, the Monte Square location was the only one which fell into the 1000′ parameters”.

According to Miller, he spoke with Mayor Ken Estes about the permit and was invited to speak at the January 14th City Council meeting about filing the first retail license within the city.

Miller was laid off from BMT Northwest in 2011, and has since been doing any work possible to support his family. He said, “This opportunity seemed to be my best option to get away from the back breaking work I have been doing since I was 18 and joined the Laborers Union.”

A business license was filed (UPDATE) with the Secretary of State’s Office for the Montesano location according to documents obtained by KXRO, but the state has not listed 3-M’s as an official applicant.

Liquor Control Board spokesman Mikhail Carpenter says there is still a backlog of submissions that have not yet been processed. He says investigators have already started reviewing applicants, and the state hopes to begin issuing licenses at the end of February. How many more local applications have yet to be processed is not currently known.
