Local DUI arrests decrease during emphasis

January 10, 2014

The results are in from the recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over DUI enforcement campaign that ran from November 27 through January 1.

In Grays Harbor, 36 drivers were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence. Statewide, 2723 drivers were arrested.

Last year in Grays Harbor, during the same time period, officers on routine and extra patrols arrested 41 people for DUI.

The Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, Elma, Hoquiam, Montesano, and Ocean Shores Police Departments, as well as the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Patrol participated in the extra patrols, with the support of Grays Harbor Target Zero. The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

These and all extra patrols are part of Target Zero—striving to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030
