More marijuana moving from Monte

January 20, 2014

KXRO has learned that one more marijuana business is pulling out of Montesano.

According to Joshua Miller of The 3-M’s Of Grays Harbor, they will no longer be applying for a location in the Monte Square for their retail marijuana store. Den of Gems told KXRO in November that they would not be pursuing their Montesano retail application due to zoning restrictions.

Miller told KXRO, “It has been a challenge trying to move the City Council into a more progressive stance on this issue, and as of yet I have been unsuccessful in doing so.” He said that he has signed a tentative lease agreement further into East County in Brady.

25 total applications have been submitted for marijuana retail stores in Grays Harbor; this includes 5 in East County. According to the Liquor Control Board, more applications will be added in the coming weeks, and many of these will be removed. Only 6 locations will be allowed countywide.

Liquor Control Board spokesman Mikhail Carpenter said that the State hopes to begin issuing licenses at the end of February.
