Detective Ed McGowan is retiring

January 28, 2014

After nearly 36 years of service with the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department, Detective Ed McGowan is retiring.

Sheriff Rick Scott spoke on McGowan’s career with the department at the Grays Harbor County Commissioners meeting yesterday and included all of the different teams McGowan served on and how he made his mark in Grays Harbor.

“Ed is one of the most renown sexual assault investigators, particularly involving child victims, in the state of Washington. He has been sought out for that expertise by professionals throughout the state for years and years.” said Scott, “He is not just a hero to us, but to the hundreds of children who would still be experiencing the horror of their abuse and neglect if it wasn’t for him.”

McGowan started with the Sheriff’s Department in April of 1978 and is retiring on Friday.
