Grays Harbor unemployment sits at 11.6%
Following trends from recent years, local unemployment figures increased in December, with Grays Harbor once again highest in the state.
Grays Harbor showed an unemployment rate of 11.6%, with Pacific County at 10.5%. In 2012, unemployment on the Harbor was 12.3%, and 13.9% in 2011.
Ron Schmidt, of Worksource Grays Harbor, told KXRO that while the numbers are higher in December, the numbers don’t tell the whole story. He said that the number of seasonal workers factor in greatly to Winter numbers and should not imply
Ferry County also increased in December, showing the second highest number with 11.5%.
The vast majority of counties in the state rose in December, following these winter trends, while King and Snohomish Counties unemployment figures fell below the state average of 6.6%.
The Grays Harbor Labor Force fell from 27,960 in November to 27,430 in December, and 28,610 from December 2012.
