Hoquiam man arrested after stole lunch and an iPhone
Hoquiam Police arrested a 33-year old transient, for residential burglary and theft after he walked into a home, had a snack, and stole a phone.
Officers were sent to a home in the 200 block of K Street after a family member reported a man walked into the home of his mother-in-law on Saturday, drank from the coffee pot, eat an avocado and took an iPhone 5 as he left.
Family members were in the home installing a washer and dryer while the residents were away. The witnesses had no idea who the suspect was or why he was in the house. They said he was acting strange and was easily identifiable with his hair up in two pony-tails.
Officers were able to start tracking the iPhone and were flagged down at a restaurant in the 100 block of Lincoln Street regarding a man inside acting strange and harassing children.
They located the transient inside listening to the “Pandora” music app on an iPhone. He told officers he just got the phone from “two guys” and was learning how to use it.
It was clear that the man was under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers verified that it was the stolen iPhone and took the man into custody.
He was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for burglary and theft.
The suspect is a convicted felon and has an extensive criminal history. He is the same man arrested by Hoquiam Police in January for stealing a flashlight off the side of a Grays Harbor Fire District #16 fire engine parked in town for a volunteer fire fighter’s funeral.
