February 11, 2014

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind Watch for the coast, in effect from this evening through late tonight.

Winds will increase this afternoon. By late this evening some areas could experience high wind for a few hours.

Wind speeds 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph are possible.

Winds of these speeds can knock down trees and large tree branches. Scattered power outages are possible.

Forecasters say a series of Pacific storms are lined up to blow into Washington over the next several days with several inches of rain in places.

Rain will increase throughout today and become heavy to night hours. Winds will also increase to 20-30mph from the South, Southeast with gusts 45-50 mph along the coast.

The National Weather Service says the blustery storm to night will be followed by a weaker system tomorrow. After a break on Thursday, another strong frontal system is expected Thursday night and Friday into a stormy weekend.
