Grays Harbor preparing new shoreline plan
Grays Harbor County will be holding 2 community meetings to kick-off its Shoreline Master Program planning process on Wednesday, February 26, at 2:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions will be in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in Montesano. These meetings will be for anyone who lives, works, plays, or owns property along county shorelines.
The Shoreline Master Program focuses on shorelines in the county not within a city.
The Shoreline Management Act requires the county to prepare a shoreline plan that:
Encourages reasonable and orderly development along shorelines
Protects shoreline natural resources
Promotes public access to shorelines
The purpose of both sessions will be to talk about why Grays Harbor County is updating its Shoreline Master Program, how the county will go through the planning process, and how you can participate in developing the plan. There will also be an open question and answer session for those in attendance.
The county recently launched a special website for the project at http://www.ghcsmp.org that contains detailed information about the project, documents, and how to participate.
You can also find out more about the project by calling John Kliem, Project Manager, at (360) 866-9325 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
