Presentation on Pacific County earthquake reporting on Tuesday

February 17, 2014

Robert de Groot, Ph.D. of the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC), will talk to students and staff about his recent work installing Quake-Catcher Network (QCN) sensors in Pacific County schools, museums, and other locations. He will discuss how QCN will add to seismic data collected in Pacific County to enhance earthquake science education in Pacific County schools.

He will be speaking at the South Bend High School Library on Tuesday at 11:30 am.

Deputy Director of Pacific County Emergency Management, Scott McDougall said that the Quake-Catcher Network is a collaborative initiative for developing the world’s largest low-cost seismic network by utilizing sensors and linking them directly to the internet. QCN sensors can be installed in homes, museums, and schools.
