Quinault accident after man falls asleep

2 people were sent to the hospital after a driver fell asleep near Lake Quinault.

Just after midnight, a 32 year old Beaver man was driving north on 101 in a 1994 Ford Taurus, approaching the lake, 75 miles south of his home. According to Washington State Patrol, the driver fell asleep on the road, before veering right and striking a large tree stump.

The driver and a 47 year old Beaver woman inside the car were taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for their injuries.

The car was totaled at the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected of being involved. The driver was charged with Negligent Driving.
