Aberdeen community meeting brings positives and negatives
Last night, approximately a dozen community members, many of whom belong to city sanctioned committees and community organizations, met with City of Aberdeen staff to discuss updates in city activities as well as ask questions directly to staff members.
Topics last night included the hiring of Cary Bozeman as a consultant to focus on certain issues within the City such as connecting the downtown to the waterfront and the continued effort to rehabilitate Seaport Landing into a tourist destination.
While some in attendance said that they were tired of the homeless population and the degradation to Aberdeen with high unemployment and vacant buildings, the majority of comments included sentiments regarding their appreciation of city staff and pride in the community.
All those who said they are proud of the area also agreed that more could be done to improve Aberdeen.
Mayor Bill Simpson said that the City has plans to hold another meeting this summer to update the community.
