Barefoot Bandit auction ends today

March 18, 2014

Your chance to own money left by Colton Harris-Moore in Raymond ends this afternoon.

Originally removed by Ebay for “A(sic) eBAY CHARITY LISTING POLICY.”, the auction was reposted online. The Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals said “WE REGRET ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS HAS CAUSED, BUT IT WAS BEYOND OUR CONTROL. ALL PREVIOUS BIDS HAVE BEEN DELETED WITH THE ORIGINAL LISTING. SORRY.”

As of this morning, the auction has already reached over $1700

In 2010, an employee at Vetter’s Animal Hospital arrived soon after Harris-Moore left a note and a $100 donation, and the employee called local police. On the note, he wrote ‘Drove by, had some extra cash. Please use this money for the care of animals. –Colton Harris-Moore (AKA: “The Barefoot Bandit”) Camano Island, WA”

Vetter’s is auctioning off the money to support HAVA. The hospital has framed the money, a copy of the note (not the original as it was written on a page ripped out of a car owner’s manual which was returned to the owner by the police), and the reports to authenticate.
It would be many months later before he was finally captured after stealing a plane.

The auction will end at 1:40 pm.
