Access to local Weyerhaeuser will require a permit starting in August

April 21, 2014

New rules on Weyerhaeuser land mean that beginning this summer, access locally may require a permit.

The Aberdeen Operating Area in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties currently allows free public access during the day to the majority of their property, as long as visitors read and obey all posted signs.

In a statement from Weyerhaeuser, this free access will change in August.

“Beginning on August 1st, 2014, the Aberdeen Operating Area will be instituting a new access policy that will require the purchase of a permit for all motorized and non-motorized access to most of our property.”

Access to the majority of their property will require a $75 annual permit that will allow year-round access. The company will issue all permit holders a window sticker, permit and a map to the area. This will grant permit holder, their spouse, children, and grandchildren recreational access to the entire tree farm, with some exceptions.
The North Elma and Lower Donovan areas will not require a permit for non-motorized access, and three enhanced permit areas in the Upper Donovan, Satsop, and Artic will only have a limited number of permits made available.

The price of those permits will be $200 for the Upper Donovan and Satsop and $250 for Artic and those will be good from August 1st to January 31st. These enhanced permits will also grant access to the year-round general permit area.
