Junction City accident victim pronounced dead, no longer dead

May 13, 2014

The reports of David Hammond’s death were greatly exaggerated.

On Monday, a 69 year old David Hammond of Humptulips man and his wife were driving east on Highway 12 in Junction City when their Chevrolet truck left the road, striking a power pole.

The Washington State Patrol reported that Hammond died at the scene. A source tells KXRO that Hammond was pronounced dead, but began to breathe again a short time later.

According to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Hammond was stabilized and transferred. Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia confirmed that Hammond is at the facility and in critical condition.

The 69 year old woman inside the truck was not injured.

According to the Washington State Patrol, it is not known exactly what caused the truck to leave the roadway.
