Raymond community pool may not open this year

May 13, 2014

The Dr. O.R. Nevitt Memorial Swimming Pool in Raymond is looking for support from the community. They say that volunteers are needed immediately or the pool may not be able to open this summer.

The pool is owned by the City of Raymond and operates under the volunteer group People Organized to Operate Leisure Activities (POOL). The volunteer group formed in 1992 and many of the same volunteers who created POOL still volunteer in some capacity today. But for some, the time has come to resign and community members are needed in order to keep the pool operating.

The pool, which is usually open Memorial Day through Labor Day, is in need of new volunteers to lead their group, and without it the 2014 pool opening will likely be delayed, if it opens at all.

If you’re interested in joining the board or helping in any capacity, contact POOL via Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/POOLactivities or by attending the next POOL meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 5:00 p.m. at Raymond City Hall.
