Click It or Ticket results are in
The results are in from the recent Click It or Ticket emphasis and more than just unbuckled and distracted drivers were cited.
Between May 19th and June 1st, extra law enforcement patrolled Grays Harbor County roads looking for unbuckled drivers and passengers, and drivers using cell phones.
During these patrols, 61 seatbelt infractions were written, in addition to 64 cell phone related tickets. Last year in, Grays Harbor, during this same time period, officers on extra patrols wrote 69 seat belt infractions and 101 cell phone violations.
Three felony warrant arrests, 45 speeding violations, five child passenger safety infractions, 41 uninsured motorists, and nine suspended or revoked license violations were issued this year as well.
Last year, during the emphasis, officers on extra patrols statewide issued nearly 3,000 (2,963) seat belt violations amongst the over 11,000 (11,666) motorists who were stopped and almost 2,000 (1,897) cell phone and texting violations were written.
The work was supported by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
These and all extra patrols are part of Target Zero—striving to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030.
