Alert Deputy apprehends Naselle Youth Camp escapee

June 25, 2014

A Pacific County Sheriff’s Deputy was in the right place at the right time to catch a 17 year old boy who escaped from the Pacific County youth camp in Naselle.

The Pacific County Communications Center were told by the camp that one of their inmates was missing from the facility and details and a physical description of the missing inmate were given to deputies responding to assist with the search.

Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Matlock told KXRO that a short time later the deputy saw a teen matching the description running along the state route west of the youth camp. The deputy got out of his vehicle and apprehended the suspect after a short foot pursuit. The re-captured inmate was returned to the custody of the Naselle Youth Camp.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office was in the process of activating a neighborhood notification of that area regarding the inmate’s escape when the inmate was apprehended.
