Monte LL takes District 9/10 title, remains undefeated

July 4, 2014

The Montesano 9/10 year old Little League All Star team remain undefeated winning the District tournament in the championship game Thursday night against Centralia 7-6. The combined pitching of Isaiah and Isaac Pierce along with Christian Prall and Malachi Backholm kept the game close throughout. It was the clutch hitting of Nick Westling in the bottom of the 6th inning that allowed Dylan Schoch to tag up and score the winning run on the contest. Jayden McElravey had two key hits in the game, and an incredible throw to the plate from deep left field by Carter Lutz kept Centralia from adding to the score.

During their run through the tourney, Montesano beat the Patriots from Dupont (28-1), Centralia (9-8), Chehalis (8-4) and Centralia (7-6) again for the Championship. Home runs by Jack Anderson (with two), Isaiah Pierce and Jayden McElravey , plus a dominating pitching performance by Trace Ridgeway against Chehalis were also highlights of the tourney. “I couldn’t have asked for a better group of kids to coach. They played with everything they had and makes me proud to be their coach, says Manager Mike Prall.”

This is the second year in a row that the Montesano 9/10 team has won the district title. They will play in the 9/10 State Tournament in Richland starting Saturday July 12th.
