Arrests made following burglary on Monte Brady Rd

April 9, 2014 Comments off

Arrests were made this week following a burglary/robbery on the Monte Brady Road after detectives with the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Task Force followed up on leads and information from informants since the crime occurred.

Yesterday at approximately 3:30 pm, investigators went to a home in the Hidden Valley Mobil Home Park and arrested a 30 year old man and his 23 year old pregnant girlfriend.

Investigators learned that the 30 year old had borrowed a pickup from a friend on Thursday, April 3rd. He drove around the East County with his girlfriend, and a 23 year old Montesano man (first described as a woman), looking for homes to burglarize. The suspects went to the home thinking that nobody was home. The 30 year old was then confronted by the home owner, who was armed with a .40 caliber pistol. The suspect pleaded with the home owner not to shoot him and then convinced him to come outside and see that he had a pregnant girlfriend.

The home owner then attempted to call 911 on his cell phone and the 30 year old attacked the man and wrestled the gun from him. During the altercation, the gun was fired twice, however nobody was injured. The suspect then took the firearm from the home owner and fled the scene.

The suspects immediately drove to the logging roads off of Camp Creek Road and dumped the pickup. They called the owner and had him pick them up. The owner decided to report his vehicle stolen in an effort to throw off the investigation.

At approximately 5:30 pm, investigators arrested the owner of the 1989 Mazda pickup that had allegedly been stolen and used in the crime after finding out that he was aiding the crime.

Last night, Investigators recovered the firearm that had been taken from the homeowner buried in the back yard in Hidden Valley Mobil Home park.

While the victim of the Burglary/Robbery thought the 3rd passenger may have been a female, this person was actually the 23 year old Montesano man. This same person was also involved with the numerous East Montesano and Brady burglaries from a month ago.

At approximately 7:00 pm, the 23 year old was also arrested for being involved.

At this point, the 30 and 23 year old Montesano men have been charged with 1st degree burglary and 1st degree robbery. The owner of the Mazda pickup was booked for rendering criminal assistance for those two crimes. The pregnant female was released pending further investigation.

Information sought on storage unit burglaries

March 20, 2014 Comments off

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office is looking for anyone with information about a series of storage unit burglaries.

Last week, deputies were sent to the Hilltop Storage Company in Junction City for a number of storage units that had been burglarized. The manager said that the lock on three units had been damaged and the burglaries likely occurred sometime during business hours. At this time, a washer and dryer and numerous tools are known to have been stolen.

The next day, deputies responded to the Glenn Road Storage Units in Montesano for more burglaries. The owner discovered that five of the units had different locks on them then what should have been. Only two of the units were currently rented. After cutting the locks, deputies discovered several items missing from the two rented units. The other three units had nothing in them. Items taken include special aviation tools and equipment and parts.

Again it was believed that the burglaries occurred during business hours and the suspects placed the locks on the units to hide the crime.

Anyone with information on these storage unit burglaries is asked to contact the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department at 360-249-3711, or the Grays Harbor Dispatch Center at 360-533-8765 if after hours.
