Grays Harbor Praised by Legislators in Telephone Town Hall

February 7, 2013

The Port of Grays Harbor was a main topic of praise last night during the 24th Legislative District telephone town hall featuring State Representatives Kevin Van De Wege and Steve Tharinger.

Those who joined the town hall style meeting were able to ask questions directly to the representatives, and many of those questions came from Grays Harbor residents.

When “Sherry” brought up the topic of unemployment in Grays Harbor, both representatives cited both the Port of Grays Harbor and the Grays Harbor College as catalysts of change.
Representative Tharinger said that change in Grays Harbor will come from what we already have in place with our rail line and deep water port.

Both Tharinger and Van De Wege commented on the Grays Harbor College and the increase in students looking to get retrained, as well as the new $42 million science building being built on the Aberdeen campus.

Grays Harbor callers also asked the legislators about teacher wages, suicide bereavement times in schools, and gun control issues.
